<div dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.15; margin-bottom: 0pt; margin-top: 0pt;">
<span style="background-color: transparent; color: black; font-family: Arial; font-size: 15px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: normal; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline;">The theme at TIBCO NOW was "Fast Data".</span></div>
<div dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.15; margin-bottom: 0pt; margin-top: 0pt;">
<span style="background-color: transparent; color: black; font-family: Arial; font-size: 15px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: normal; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline;">Fast Data has been positioned by TIBCO as successor of "Big Data". The underlying idea is: The collection of large amounts of data only makes sense if you are able to utilize it in a timely manner. This goes for applications like Predictive Analysis, analysis of Operational bottlenecks analysis and real time Consumer Engagements.</span></div>
<div dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.15; margin-bottom: 0pt; margin-top: 0pt;">
<span style="background-color: transparent; color: black; font-family: Arial; font-size: 15px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: normal; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline;">Where in the past many operations relied on daily reports, Fast Data ensures that appropriate analytical information is available semi real-time, so it can be used to make timely decisions.</span></div>
<div dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.15; margin-bottom: 0pt; margin-top: 0pt;">
<span style="background-color: transparent; color: black; font-family: Arial; font-size: 15px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: normal; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline;"></span><br /></div>
<div dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.15; margin-bottom: 0pt; margin-top: 0pt;">
<span style="background-color: transparent; color: black; font-family: Arial; font-size: 15px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: normal; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline;">Fast Data relies on the following underlying TIBCO middleware:</span></div>
<div dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.15; margin-bottom: 0pt; margin-top: 0pt;">
<span style="background-color: transparent; color: black; font-family: Arial; font-size: 15px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: normal; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline;"></span><br /></div>
<div dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.15; margin-bottom: 0pt; margin-top: 0pt;">
<span style="background-color: transparent; color: black; font-family: Arial; font-size: 15px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: bold; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline;"><em>TIBCO Active Spaces</em></span><span style="background-color: transparent; color: black; font-family: Arial; font-size: 15px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: normal; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline;"> is the TIBCO solution for In-Memory Computing. Through distributed data grids this product can provide the processing speeds that are required for Fast Data.</span></div>
<div dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.15; margin-bottom: 0pt; margin-top: 0pt;">

<br /><span style="background-color: transparent; color: black; font-family: Arial; font-size: 15px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: normal; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline;">The most striking innovations for AMX BPM are of </span><span style="background-color: transparent; color: black; font-family: Arial; font-size: 15px; font-style: italic; font-variant: normal; font-weight: bold; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline;">Adaptive Case Management (ACM)</span><span style="background-color: transparent; color: black; font-family: Arial; font-size: 15px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: normal; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline;"> and </span><span style="background-color: transparent; color: black; font-family: Arial; font-size: 15px; font-style: italic; font-variant: normal; font-weight: bold; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline;">Embedded Analytics</span><span style="background-color: transparent; color: black; font-family: Arial; font-size: 15px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: normal; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline;">.</span><br />
<br /><span style="background-color: transparent; color: black; font-family: Arial; font-size: 15px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: normal; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline;">ACM is positioned as integral part of AXM-BPM. This tool previously only supported fixed (“imperative”) processes. Now AMX BPM is extended with "declarative" model elements. It supports optional ad-hoc process steps that can be scheduled manually or automatically based on business rules. This way the process can be adapted dynamically to process context and the insights and inputs of the knowledge worker.</span><br />
<div dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.15; margin-bottom: 0pt; margin-top: 0pt;">
<span style="background-color: transparent; color: black; font-family: Arial; font-size: 15px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: normal; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline;">AMX BPM also supports process status and milestones, to allow the control the progress of the process.</span></div>

<div dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.15; margin-bottom: 0pt; margin-top: 0pt;">
<span style="background-color: transparent; color: black; font-family: Arial; font-size: 15px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: normal; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline;">Cases mostly rely on unstructured content, like documents and photographs. AMX BPM allows these to be added to a case file, which the knowledge worker has access to. AMX BPM supports this functionality through the </span><span style="background-color: transparent; color: black; font-family: Arial; font-size: 15px; font-style: italic; font-variant: normal; font-weight: bold; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline;">CMIS </span><span style="background-color: transparent; color: black; font-family: Arial; font-size: 15px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: normal; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline;">standard, in order to store and retrieve file data into an external Enterprise Content Management (ECM) system.</span></div>
<div dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.15; margin-bottom: 0pt; margin-top: 0pt;">
<span style="background-color: transparent; color: black; font-family: Arial; font-size: 15px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: normal; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline;"></span><br /></div>
<div dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.15; margin-bottom: 0pt; margin-top: 0pt;">
<span style="background-color: transparent; color: black; font-family: Arial; font-size: 15px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: normal; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline;">AMX BPM has been extended with embedded analytics, which offer standard process measures that may be presented in out-of-the-box dashboards and reports offered through recently acquired JasperSoft tooling. (In the past this Business Activity Monitoring (BAM) needed to be implemented explicitly, e.g. in conjunction with SpotFire). The reports can be used by several roles (e.g. end user, process owner, business manager), for example to verify Performance or Quality.</span></div>
<br /><span style="background-color: transparent; color: black; font-family: Arial; font-size: 15px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: normal; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline;">The tool "NIMBUS" is positioned for business users to allow to model business processes. AMX-BPM is often is too complex for this purpose. NIMBUS models are not executable, hence you can compare NIMBUS to a product like ARIS. Unfortunately, there is not (yet) a good interface between NIMBUS and AMX BPM. This means there is no closed-loop between business process modeling and execution, which results in some redundancy when both products are used.</span><br />

<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Non-Functional Requirements: A car analogy</span></h2>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Non-functional requirements often seem to be quiet abstract and hard to comprehend, both for customers and young professionals (and even for the more senior) .</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">In a number of cases I have used a car as an analogy, just as an example (and for good fun). </span><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">In this blog I like to share a list of NF requirements and how I (may) have explained them in terms of automobiles:</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"></span><br />
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-da9OpY1qwT0/UkeRV8-k40I/AAAAAAAAAwQ/CRQoX1XYhJ0/vlcsnap-2013-09-28-16h50m53s4017.png?imgmax=800" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-da9OpY1qwT0/UkeRV8-k40I/AAAAAAAAAwQ/CRQoX1XYhJ0/vlcsnap-2013-09-28-16h50m53s4017.png?imgmax=800" height="182" width="200" /></span></a><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><strong>Accessibility</strong><br />How much effort does it take me to get into and out off the car?<br />(Do I need to climb a window like Bo and Luke Duke?)</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><strong>Attractiveness</strong><br />Is the car of sheer beauty and would I love show it to my neighbors<br />(or would I feel ashamed to drive it?)</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><strong>Availability</strong><br />Can I use the car whenever I want to?<br />(Or do I need to wait an hour to charge it after every 100 kilometers?)</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><strong>Compliance</strong><br />Does the car comply to environmental and safety regulations?<br />(Or can I expect a huge fine when I get pulled over for a car check by the police)</span><br />

suggest to use a linear scale to catch the results, as this makes the comparison more transparent in case
of calculations over a logarithmic scale. </span><br />
<span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US; mso-fareast-language: NL;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">An example:<o:p></o:p></span></span><br />

<li><span style="mso-fareast-language: NL;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">1 - 2 M<o:p></o:p></span></span></li>
<span style="font-family: inherit;">

<li><span style="mso-fareast-language: NL;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">2 - 3 M<o:p></o:p></span></span></li>

<span style="font-family: inherit;">
</span></ol>
<span style="font-family: inherit;"></span><br />
<div class="MsoNoSpacing" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
<span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US; mso-fareast-language: NL;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">If we have done this we have created the conditions to
be able to compare the data we find if we perform the hard part: gathering the
actual price info.<o:p></o:p></span></span></div>
<span lang="EN-US" style="font-family: inherit; mso-ansi-language: EN-US; mso-fareast-language: NL;"><o:p> </o:p></span><br />
<div class="MsoNoSpacing" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
<span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US; mso-fareast-language: NL;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">Unfortunately I cannot give you a more than some
advice which may seem pretty obvious for some: Quality of the results depends
on the reliability of your sources, and your determination and creativity to
extract the data from them. Apart from info from vendors you may consult will
need your network, the community and static internet info on the subject as
well.<o:p></o:p></span></span></div>
<span style="font-family: inherit;"></span><br />
<div class="MsoNoSpacing" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
<span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US; mso-fareast-language: NL;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">Maybe this could be something of a start to share
intelligence over here...<o:p></o:p></span></span></div>

<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
<span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;">How could the
process preceding a BPMS-selection look like?<o:p></o:p></span></span></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
<span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;">As a TOGAF certified
architect I would answer this from TOGAF point of view (though I am most
certain that similar architectural frameworks -like Zachman- would suggest a similar
kind of approach).<o:p></o:p></span></span></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
<span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;">In my
opinion Enterprise Architecture should always start with Vision, Mission,
Strategy and the resulting business goals.<o:p></o:p></span></span></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
<span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;">To guard
the strategy and provide directions to each future decision the architecture
board formulates a number of basic Principles.<o:p></o:p></span></span></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
<span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;">If not yet
done, the current Architecture is assessed and mapped out in terms of Business
Architecture (Organization, Value Chain, Business Processes, Business Services,
Organization, Business Context, Business Domain), Information Systems
(applications and data) and Infra structure. <o:p></o:p></span></span></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
<span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;">The next
step is to define a to-be architecture, obviously starting with strategy and
goals that result in required business capabilities, and the to-be Business
Architecture. From these the Information Systems and Infrastructure
Architectures are derived. <o:p></o:p></span></span></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
<span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;">Comparing the
as-is and to-be architectures results in a set of gaps, which are collected, prioritized
and added to the Architectural roadmap.<o:p></o:p></span></span></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
<span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;">The architectural
gaps that deal with platform functionality (for instance automated Business Process
and Business Rules support) and the assigned priority may be the input for a COTS
BPMS assessment.<o:p></o:p></span></span></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
<span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;">Note that a
BPMS is nothing more than a collection of IT platform capabilities that make up
a total set of capabilities that Enterprise Architecture considers to be necessary
to reach required goals. Certain capabilities could very well be provided by another
product, a cloud service or a custom built component.<o:p></o:p></span></span></div>

<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
<span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;">Conducting
a BPMS selection is logical step before acquiring a new BPM stack.<o:p></o:p></span></span></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
<span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;">Re-assessing
an earlier choice on periodic basis however is less common.</span></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
<span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;"><o:p></o:p></span></span> </div>
<span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;">Understandable:
If you do it properly an evaluation is tedious, which both effects in cost and
lead time. Besides that it takes specific (and often expensive) skills that may
be hard to acquire or to allocate. On top of this: an assessment is a snapshot of
the dynamic BPM market, and will retain little value as time passes. <o:p></o:p></span></span><br />
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
<span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;">Obviously
one could cut corners and base an evaluation on a Gartner or Forrester report. Conclusions
of those however are often too generic, and it most certainly will not provide
us with all answers required for your specific demand. <o:p></o:p></span></span></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEib1_i45N0OfvxhuOOGG88bqq-NCYDlhIgidA5bdLStevgFQDNLWk6A5guEGx0yNP_oggryPnr9j5OsQdxV_bvkSfg9LK_r7IoCv_yoZczifdOlXMvBvxkDPIyGRLjobxQTW8C0ZOlUcX4/s1600/all.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="241" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEib1_i45N0OfvxhuOOGG88bqq-NCYDlhIgidA5bdLStevgFQDNLWk6A5guEGx0yNP_oggryPnr9j5OsQdxV_bvkSfg9LK_r7IoCv_yoZczifdOlXMvBvxkDPIyGRLjobxQTW8C0ZOlUcX4/s320/all.png" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
<span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;">A BPMS evaluation
tool could proof to be valuable in order to save considerable cost and lead time
of such a drill.<o:p></o:p></span></span></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
<span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;">But, what are
the global requirements of such a tool?<o:p></o:p></span></span></div>
<span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;">Well, before
we can conduct any BPMS assessment we need to answer the following questions:<o:p></o:p></span></span><br />
<span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US; mso-bidi-font-family: Calibri; mso-bidi-theme-font: minor-latin;"><span style="mso-list: Ignore;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;"></span></span></span><br />

</span></span></span><span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;">What

<span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;">For a specific assessment it ought to be possible to answer these questions
quiet accurately. <o:p></o:p></span></span><br />
<span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;">An general purpose assessment tool however should be able to deal with “all”

<span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;">This requires for a combination of completeness and flexibility.<o:p></o:p></span></span><br />

<span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;">Where a specific assessment will focus on specific characteristics, an
assessment tool would have to be able to observe all possible features that a
BPMS logically could provide and consider those as the criteria where the BPMS
is appraised against.<o:p></o:p></span></span><br />

<span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;">What products are we going to assess?</span></span><br />
<span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;"><span style="font-family: Times New Roman;">
</span></span></span><span style="font-family: Calibri;"><span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"></span></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Calibri;"><span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;">Tibco? IBM? MicroSoft? Pega? Appian? Cordys? SAP? Oracle? OpenText?
Software AG? ...<o:p></o:p></span></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Calibri;"><br /></span><span style="font-family: Times New Roman;">
</span><span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;">Each specific assessment will most likely create a shortlist of BPMS-products
that will be evaluated against the relevant criteria.<o:p></o:p></span></span><br />
<span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;"></span></span><br />
<span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;">The assessment of each BPMS is costly: The more products and criteria
more costly the assessment. <o:p></o:p></span></span><br />
<br />
<span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;">An selection tool would offer additional value if it would be prefilled
with assessment scores, instead of just offer a way to specifying scores and do
the math.<o:p></o:p></span></span><br />
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt 2.4pt;">
<span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;">As we don’t know in advance which BPMS products will be on the
shortlists and which criteria are relevant in what cases, the database of the
tool would ideally be prefilled with scores for all criteria for all potential
BPMS-es. And as BPMS-s will evolve over time, mergers may take place and new
products may be introduced this information would needs to be kept up to date.<o:p></o:p></span></span></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt 2.4pt;">
<span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;">Prefilled assessment scores would prevent the user to have to do the
costly evaluations themselves, and limit their effort to selecting candidate BPMS-es
and relevant criteria.<o:p></o:p></span></span></div>
<b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;"><span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;"></span></span></i></b><br />

<span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;">Different customers focus on different aspects of a BPMS.<o:p></o:p></span></span><br />
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt 2.4pt;">
<span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;">An insurance provider may emphasize on ACM (Adaptive Case Management) functionality,
where a Telco may need Straight Through Processing (STP) capabilities. For the
first the functionalities ACM, Task Management and Document Management are the
most relevant, and for the second to Messaging, Integration and BPM
capabilities. <o:p></o:p></span></span></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt 2.4pt;">
<span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;">Relevance may be expressed in weight factors. (A weight may be set to 0
if it does not have any relevance at all for a certain application). <o:p></o:p></span></span></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt 2.4pt;">
<span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;">These factors may be multiplied with the scores, which leaves us with a “weighted
score”. When dividing the sum of weighted scores by the total weight will
result a an overall aggregated weighted score for the BPMS. <o:p></o:p></span></span></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt 2.4pt;">
<span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;">Though focuses may differ it is possible to recognize certain patterns. For
each of these focus patterns we could provide a profile with predefined

effort.<o:p></o:p></span></span></div>

<br />
That was the question I tried to answer some time ago on this Blog.<br />
<br />
Building and populating a BPMS assessment tools and the valueble feedback of some appreciated BPM "collegues" has helped me to sharpen the landscape diagram of BPM related platform functions, where color codes indicate the relevance for BPMS (see legenda). <br />
<br />
I still hope to provoke a discussion in order to improve this overview some more.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgow55PAaeuLTYznV1QdGqGq3iQYi8TtKEuecLr9Ss9-l5HQ4wPeJy_1zR2VCvS6CsPSdPGxjZP-VVifMV_vuhvnfVeIe43lIuEl2fu-6z9Htj_E3XCcdkhit8m9RR_s9TpG1h9sCZNicI/s1600/Conceptual+SW+Platform+Functions+v0.6.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="322" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgow55PAaeuLTYznV1QdGqGq3iQYi8TtKEuecLr9Ss9-l5HQ4wPeJy_1zR2VCvS6CsPSdPGxjZP-VVifMV_vuhvnfVeIe43lIuEl2fu-6z9Htj_E3XCcdkhit8m9RR_s9TpG1h9sCZNicI/s640/Conceptual+SW+Platform+Functions+v0.6.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
One of the most striking differences with the previous version is the explicit distiction between "functional" BPMS functions and Operation/Governance related ones. The latter is more elobarted than before. <br />
Some other major changes are for instance the Decision Management and EAI parts.<br />

<br />
Different BPMS vendors offer different BPM related platform functionality.<br />
In order to provoke a discussion I have created a landscape diagram of platform functions, and tried to relate them to BPM. (See below).<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<i>Using colors I have tried to indicate the relevance of a function for BPM.</i><br />
<i><br /></i>
Please let me know if you think this picture is a proper and complete reflection of (possible) BPM functions.<br />
<br />
<br />
<i>Below are the meanings of the abbreviations and terms and their relevance to BPM</i><br />
